String-wound filter cartridges
Putsch® offers a very large selection of string-wound filter cartridges in many sizes, designs, materials and winding patterns.
Putsch® depth filter cartridges type “K11” are manufactured under strictly controlled conditions using a special process. The microfibers used are particularly uniform and are thermally bonded to form a homogeneous filtration layer. The depth filter cartridge type “K11” with its micro-polypropylene filter matrix is regarded as the most effective depth cartridge filter and has the highest efficiency for the very small particles which are difficult to filter.
The microfiber filter matrix is not visible to the naked eye – it looks rather like a closed filter layer. The fine microfiltration layer only becomes evident under a microscope.
The long useful life of these extremely fine filter cartridges is achieved by pleating the thin filter medium, which creates a particularly large filter surface.
The depth filter cartridges type “K11” with all their advantages are primarily used for fully desalinated high purity water, for food and beverages, for cosmetics or for high purity chemicals in the semiconductor industry.
Under strict, controlled manufacturing conditions, the particularly homogeneous microfibers are created and bonded to form a homogeneous filter layer.
The technical challenge lies in manufacturing a filter matrix with the highest filtration action. The specially produced filter medium is “sandwiched” with draining layers for shaping and spacing the pleats. The special quality of the pleating technology becomes evident in the pleating and has a strong influence on the properties of the filter cartridges.
After pleating, the pleated unit is bonded with ultrasound and is therefore free from adhesives.
The pleated unit is thermally bonded in a full polypropylene cage, which means it is protected and free from bypasses. The design and workmanship ensure that the usual disinfectant measures, e.g. with saturated steam, hot water or peroxy acid, can be carried out.
Compared to all other brands, these cartridge filters stand out on account of the extraordinarily large filter surface (5000 cm2) per 10″ length), resulting in the proven longer useful life.
The depth filter cartridges type “K11” are fully suitable for contact with food. All components comply with the regulations from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
RoHS requirements are met for use in the electronics and coating industry.
Depending on the cartridge housing, different adapters are available for the depth filter cartridges type “K11”. The adapters are permanently bonded to the cage in a thermal process. Different seals made of EPDM, Viton® , silicone® and NBR are available for the polypropylene caps.
