Cartridge housings type “D-PP”

The polypropylene filter cartridges type “D-PP” from Putsch® are an alternative to metal filter housings and are designed for 3 – 15 filter cartridges as a standard.

These customized polypropylene cartridge housings are used whenever comparable metal housings are unsuitable because these are either corroded directly by the filtered liquid or the environment is unsuitable for the metal, e.g. salty sea air.

To ensure smooth operation in the long term, the housings have to be particularly sturdy and all components in contact with the filtered liquid have to be made of polypropylene.

Description

General information

The cylinder made of thick-walled polypropylene is divided into two chambers by a solid, welded-in plate. The first chamber is intended for the filter cartridges. The seats for the filter cartridges are mounted on the intermediate plate. This is also where the intake is located. The outlet is located in the second chamber.

The lateral intake and outlet is placed at a height offset on the opposite side. On request, these connections can be welded on in other positions.

The removable housing cover allows easy operation at standing height. Depending on the flow rate (volume per unit of time) or after the required usage time, cartridge housings type “D-PP” for 3 to 15 filter cartridges are available in lengths from 10″ to 40″ (standard). On customer request, however, it is also possible to manufacture filter housings for more or longer filter cartridges.

These cartridge housings are manufactured individually and welded manually. Only highly robust components are used to achieve a particularly long useful life for these polypropylene filter housings.

Housing closure

Following the technical regulations, a filter housing with at least 0.5 bar internal overpressure is classified as a pressure vessel and consequently requires a high level of product safety. Especially when used in combination with aggressive or harmful chemicals, the safety aspect achieves particular importance.

The stainless steel screws with hand toggle allow easy opening and closing of these filter housings. The liquid has no contact with the locking screws during operation, allowing the durable and robust stainless steel material to be used. Depending on the operating conditions, other specials screws can be used here, too.

On request, Putsch® offers suitable materials to suit customer requirements.

Feet/installation/mounting

No separate base frame is required for installation because the housing is designed to stand vertically without tipping over. Integration into the respective pipe system usually provides sufficient fixing for the bag housings.

Of course Putsch® can offer suitable feet on request. Parameters such as position, length, etc. are defined by the customers and implemented and supplied by Putsch® , making installation on site accordingly easy.

On request, welded-on fastening plates with holes can be included in the design and manufacturing process.

A polypropylene base plate can also be welded on if this is required for correct floor installation.

Connections

Depending on the size of the cartridge housings, loose-type flanges DN 25 to DN 125 are used for the intake and outlet. The loose-type flanges on the sides can be used to drain the complete cartridge housing when open – a great advantage particularly in case of blocked filter cartridges.

The valve on the housing cover can be used to vent the cartridge housing when depressurized. Putsch® offers a polypropylene connection in the cover for pressure gages or for venting.

Adapters for filter cartridges

As a standard, the cartridge housings type “D-PP” are equipped for filter cartridges open at both ends (adapters P0 (DOE)). The guide bars welded into the cartridge housings are used for positioning the filter cartridges on the seating caps. The toggle is used to seal the filter cartridges open on both sides. Due to the thread lengths of the polypropylene guide bars, filter cartridges with intermediate lengths (e.g. 19.5″ instead of 20″) can also be used.

This technology makes installation and removal of the filter cartridges quick, easy and very safe.

For filter cartridges with the P8 adapter, these cartridge housings can also be used with an appropriate intermediate plate. In this case, no guide bars are required.

Documents

The cartridge housings are designed for liquids of group 2 as per PED 2014/68/EC, art. 4, par. (3). Each cartridge housing is supplied with a pressure test certificate and is individually marked for clear identification.

Operating instructions are also provided, containing installation information, a spare parts list and information on maintenance and care.
