Cartridge housings type “4”
Cartridge housings type “4” are robust stainless steel filter housings which are modular and accordingly versatile.
Cartridge housings type “6” from Putsch® have been used widely in all industries for over 40 years and are particularly popular due to their solid, robust quality. As a prefilter for reverse osmosis systems in high purity water processing, as a safety filter before outlets or as line filters in cooling water circuits – only a few examples of the numerous application options for these filter housings.
The basic element of the cartridge housing Type “6” is a stainless steel cylinder which is divided into two chambers by a precisely welded-in stainless steel plate. The stainless steel plate is equipped with the seatings for all common adapters P0 (DOE) and P8.
For filter cartridges with the P8 adapter, a pressure plate P8 (optional version) is required instead of the guide bars.
The lateral intake and outlet is placed at a height offset on the opposite side in a 180° position. On request, these connections can be welded on in other positions.
The removable housing cover allows easy operation from above.
Depending on the flow rate (volume per unit of time) or after the required usage time, 2 different widths of standard housings are available – for 3 or 6 filter cartridges, each for filter cartridge lengths of 10″ to 40″. In request, other filter housings type “6” are available for more or longer filter cartridges.
The robust design with 6 mm wall thickness, the high quality workmanship of the weld seams and the electropolished surface allow these systems to be run for decades.
Following the technical regulations, a cartridge housing with at least 0.5 bar internal overpressure is classified as a pressure vessel and consequently requires a high level of product safety.
The locking clamp with a hand toggle allows the cartridge housing to be opened and closed and is also a part under pressure. The massive, robust locking clamp provides secure sealing of the cartridge housing and has proven successful on the cartridge housings type “6” for many decades and in all industry sectors due to the safe and fast operation.
For special customer requirements, the cartridge housing type “6” is manufactured with a blind flange instead of the combination of housing cover and locking clamp.
No separate base frame is required for installing the cartridge housings type “6”. They are positioned vertically, secure against tipping over, and are usually sufficiently fixed through the integration into the pipes. On request, fixing flanges with holes can be welded on during the installation phase.
Depending on the size or product variant, internal threads from 1.5″ to 2″ are used for the intake and outlet. On customer request, flanges (e.g. as per DIN 2576 with pipe diameters from DN 50 to DN 80) or e.g. dairy pipe sockets can be welded on.
The 1/2″ sockets on the side can be used to drain the complete cartridge housing if the blind plugs are opened when depressurized – even with blocked filter cartridges.
A 3/8″ socket on the housing cover can be used to vent the cartridge housing when depressurized.
As a standard, the cartridge housings type “6” are equipped for filter cartridges open at both ends (adapters DOE, P0). The guide bars inserted inside the cartridge housings are used for positioning the filter cartridges on the seating caps.
The supplied filters with sealing caps are used to press the filter cartridges onto the upper and lower sealing edge, sealing off the ends of the filter cartridges.
This technology makes installation and removal of the filter cartridges quick, easy and still safe.
Filter cartridges with the P8 adapter can also be used in this cartridge housing. A P8 pressure plate is used for the filter cartridges, while the guide bars, springs and sealing caps are omitted.
The cartridge housings type “6” are designed for liquids group 2 (as per PED 2014/68/EU, art. 4 par. (3), good engineering practice for group 2 liquids. Good engineering practice.
Each cartridge housing is supplied with a pressure vessel certificate (as per pressure equipment regulations). Each cartridge housing is individually marked for clear identification.
Each cartridge housing is provided with operating instructions which contains installation information, a spare parts list and information on maintenance and care.
Putsch® offers the appropriate accessories for comfortable operation.
The cartridge housings type “6” can be supplied with a differential pressure gage (complete with piping and therefore ready for operation). The operator can use the electrical contacts of the differential pressure gage to obtain measuring signals for remote monitoring.
