Polypropylene bag housings type “BG-BB”

The bag housing type “BG-BB” is a polypropylene filter housing. Polypropylene bag housings are recommended where e.g. metal bag housings cannot be used due to risk of corrosion or lack of chemical resistance.

Bag housings type “BB-BG” are manufactured with injection molding, are particularly light compared to metal housings and still pressure-resistant (over 6 bar internal water pressure). Large internal threads of 1 1/2″ allow connection to larger water lines.

Special polypropylene filter bags in 10″ and 20″ length are available for these bag housings, with filter grades from 1 µm to 200 µm in needle felt and 50 µm to 600 µm in fabric.

Description

General information

For over 50 years, Putsch® has been manufacturing injection-molded bag filter housings and supplied hundreds of thousands of units. Feedback from international customers in all industries confirms the technical and quality advantage provided by Putsch® products compared to the numerous copies on the market.

The bag housings consist of two polypropylene parts: a head and a sump.
To prevent bacterial growth in water with biological contamination, these bag housings allow no light to enter.

Metal-free internal threads for the piping are located in the head for intake and outlet. The head has a special pressure plate with a central hole, ensuring the reliable seating of the filter bag and sufficient sealing. The sump serves as the housing cover and is screwed into the head finger-tight to prevent leaking of water. A housing wrench is additionally supplied to facilitate opening and closing.

The bag housing is made from a special formula, allowing it to expand slightly during operation at the correct internal pressure, producing a sealing effect. At this water pressure, unintentional opening of the cartridge housing during operation is excluded.

The bag housings type “BG-BB” are available in two lengths. The supplied heads (black) fit on both sumps. The installed bag housings can therefore be retrofitted for 10″ or 20″ filter bags later on by changing the sumps and the support basket.

The support basket for holding and and supporting the filter bag is also made of polypropylene.

Housing closure

The large, smooth thread on head and sump allows fast and safe closing and opening of the bag housing. The threads are permanently attached without adhesives and can resist the water pressure without problems.

Feet/installation/mounting

Connections

Internal threads (1 1/2″) are provided in the head for intake and outlet as a standard. A supplied pressure gage can be screwed onto the 1/4″ hole on the head. The pressure gage measures the stagnation pressure at the intake which indicates the condition of the filter bag.

Note: The supplied pressure gage has a non-ferrous metal thread. Please check the chemical resistance to your medium.

The provided polypropylene drain cock is placed into the hole (3/8″) of the sump and screwed in. This allows the liquid to be drained or a sample to be taken at the lowest point of the bag housing (note: the bag housing must not be under pressure!).

Filter bags

10″ and 20″ long polypropylene filter bags (needle felt, depth filter, 1-200 µm); fabric, surface filter, 50 – 600 µm) are available especially for these bag housings type “BG-BB”.

The needle felts absorb more dirt due to the depth filter action and are single-use filters. The smooth surface of the fabrics is washable and can be reused many times.

Documents

The bag housings correspond to FDA regulations; Putsch® can certify compliance for the customer on request. Operation and maintenance are simple and self-explanatory.

Accessories

Accessories

For convenient operation, Putsch® directly supplies the appropriate accessories – delivery includes:
a housing with support basket, pressure gage and drain cock as well as a housing wrench.

Fixing bracket for wall mounting

The cartridge housings have four holes in the head for the fixing brackets for wall mounting. All holes are required for the fixing brackets. This allows the installer to attach the cartridge housing in two positions, making installation independent of the flow direction of the water.

Arrows on the head indicate the direction of flow.
